Lake Effect Kid 에 대한 단상

2월 22일에 LLAMANIA 라는 앨범이 나왔다

앞으로 "발매될일 없는" 데모 3곡을 추려 뿌렸는데

그 앨범의 3번 트랙이 특히 마음에 들었다

미완의 수작(어디까지나 개인적인 생각)을 듣다보니

폴아웃보이가 과거에 직접 녹음하고 공개한 뒤 정작 앨범에선 뺀 Lake Effect Kid가 생각났다

제목도 참 폴아웃보이 스럽다

잠깐 딴길로 새자면 제목에 있는 호수 효과는 폴아웃보이의 시작인 시카고과 연관이 있다

이 효과 때문에 날씨가 변덕스럽고 또 눈도 엄청오고..

여튼 그런 지역 특성과 관련된 제목의 노래인데

좋은 멜로디와 가사를 가지고 있지만 이상하게도 10년 넘게 발매가 안되고 있다

게다가 피트가 직접 이 노래는 더이상 작업을 안한다고 했으니

사실상 끝난 노래나 다름없다

LLAMANIA의 3번 트랙 Wrong Side of Paradise 역시 이와 같은 상황인데

거참 다들 좋다는 노래를 왜 안내는건지..

뭐 노래의 주인이 아니라고 하니 그냥 그러려니 할 수 밖에..

하지만 국카스텐이 15년간 묵혀둔 나침반을 이방인을 통해 낸것처럼

그럴일 없겠지만 폴아웃보이도 어느날 갑자기 딱 미공개곡을 내진 않을까? 하는 상상을 해본다
